		Yellow Coat Steve Goodman

This song appears on the albums "Steve Goodman" and
"The Essential Steve Goodman". I'll leave it to the chord gurus
to name some of the variations.

Enjoy,

A A(?)
It's a long time since I saw you last
A A(?)
So tell me how you've been
Em F#m Bm
Did you ever get to buy that yellow coat?
A A(?)
Do the flowers in you window box
A A(?)
Still smile when you walk in?
Em F#m Bm
Did you read the letters that I wrote?

                         G
And I've been on the road since Christmas
G
But it don't seem so long
A D
Outside of that there isn't much to say.
G
I cut down on my drinkin' some
                       Bm Em
And wrote another song
Em F#m Bm
I wish you wouldn't look at me that way

A A(?)
Remember all the mornings
A A(?)
We'd walk around the park
Em F#m Bm
The nights we babysat for Billy's kids
A A(?)
And all the times we used to talk
A A(?)
Of having one ourselves
Em F#m Bm
I don't remember why we never did

       G
Do the neighbors still complain a bit
G
When the music gets too loud?
A D
Does your old cat still sleep up on the bed?
G
And do you still walk around
                                  Bm Em
With your head up in the clouds?
Em F#m Bm
Have you heard a single thing I've said?

A
It's a two day drive to New York
G D
Guess I'd better go
Em F#m Bm
Have you noticed the weather's gettin' cold?

A A(?)
And it's a long time since I saw you last
A A(?)
Tell me how you've been
Em F#m Bm
Did you ever get to buy that yellow coat?
Em F#m Bm
Did you ever get to buy that yellow coat?
