Subject: Hotel California - The Easier Version


     I just thought I'd post a somewhat easier for playing version of the
Eagles' "Hotel California": this might be the perfect choice for the
beginners who happen to be crazy about the song. So here it is.

  - HOTEL "CALIFORNIA" -

 On a dark desert highway

 Cool wind in my hair -

 Warm smell of coletus

 Rising up thru the air

 Up ahead in the distance

 I saw a shimmer of light;

 My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim,

 I had to stop for the night -


And there she stood in the doorway,
I heard the mission bell;
And I was thinking to myself,
"This could be heaven 
                      and this could be hell..."
Then she lit up a candle
And she showed me the way,
There were voices down the corridor,
And I heard'em say -

 Such a lovely place,

(all the other verses and the chorus part are no different; just follow the
model above.)

So I called up the Captain,
"Please, bring me my wine!"

          "We haven't had that spirit here since
Nineteen sixty-nine...
But still those voices are comin' from fa-ar away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night,
Just to hear'em say,


"Welcome to the Hotel "California',
Such a lovely place,
                   Such a lovely face,
Living it up in the Hotel "California".
What a nice surprise,
                   When you're out of lies..."



Mirrors on the ceiling,
They drink champaign on ice,
(And she said,)
       "We are all just prisoners here
Of our own device;
In the Master's chambers
They gathered for the fiest - 
They stab it with their steely knives,
But they
         just
              can't
                     kill the beast!"

Last thing I remember -
I was
       running for the door,
I tried to get my passage back
To the place I was before,
"Relax," - said the nightman,-
"We are all
           programmed to receive,
You can check out any time you like,
But you can never leave!..."


The solo part, which as you know takes three thirds of a song, I don't 
know about: I have figured if you're a beginner, forget 'bout the solo part.
Eitherway I did at the time.
